Pleasant Ridge Commissioner Gives Gainsboro Playground Update
(Pleasant Ridge Commissioner Jason Krzysiak, July 17, 2016)
Pleasant Ridge, MI – I just wanted to update everyone on the final plans for the new Gainsboro Playground.
The Recreation Commission unanimously approved the plan at their Wednesday meeting and all in attendance were eager to place our order with Landscape Structures and get the equipment in the ground so the kids can get back to play in Gainsboro ASAP.
Highlights of the plan include a natural grass play berm between the new playground and the toddler play space that will have a tunnel and a bridge for the kids to explore.
The centerpiece of this new space will be an Evos climbing system with nets, a spinner and a slide that has no defined entry points and will allow the kids endless possibilities for traversing up, over and across its arches.
The Recreation Commission was also excited to bring a Mobius climber to Gainsboro which will challenge the kids as they grapple over its seven panels to reach the top of Mt. Everest, the Empire State Building or wherever their imagination takes them.
Another cool addition will be the Global Motion rotating net climber which will bring the kids and those parents brave enough together for climbing, spinning silliness.
After giving the Global Motion a whirl, the kids can then move over to the We-Saw, a multi-person take on the traditional see-saw and the freestanding Boogie Board which will give our landlocked park a little hint of surf for the kids to work on their agility and balance.
We top off the experience with a bay of four swings one of which will be the larger, harness style meant to allow our children with physical disabilities the opportunity to soar alongside their friends.
In that same spirit the We-saw and the Global Motion piece were also designed with all kids in mind regardless of ability.
As was discussed on Wednesday, this project is on schedule and once the major cement and landscaping phase of the Gainsboro project wraps at the end of August, we can then make way for installation of this exciting new play space.
Thank you to everyone who worked on this effort to provide years of enjoyment for our community’s families.
