Groveland Township, MI – Salvatore Delia is one of three Republicans in the race for Oakland County Commissioner for District 2, which includes five townships: Groveland, Holly, Springfield, Rose, and Highland.  Delia lives in Groveland.
On Aug. 2 Delia will be on the Republican Primary ballot against incumbent Bob Hoffman and another challenger Robert Kleven.  The winner of the primary also has a Democratic Challenger on Aug. 8: Rhonda Carr.
level_one_ad01Delia was a teacher of speech and theater before taking a position with the Social Security Administration where he worked his way up to various positions including District Manager in charge of problem cases statewide.
“I am basically running because many of the public I come in contact with do not know what a county commissioner does,” he said.  “It’s not a simple thing.  It’s not like being a milkman.  It is basically that  I can and wish to define the role of who a commissioner ought to be.  So I look at a commissioner as first a guardian of the budget. Secondly they’re the providers of the basic elements for harmonious community life.”
In his interview with oc115, Delia talked about his desire to regain state control of Medicaid from Obamacare, the importance of getting the public involved, and about the way being a county commissioner would be similar to directing a theater production.
