Explosion at Madison Heights Fireworks Planned Part of Show Police Say (video)

Madison Heights, MI – Crowds were worried Sunday night when an explosion came from the fireworks detonation site at Civic Center Park.  The explosion sent a burst of flames into the air, and videos started making the rounds, like the one by Aujanee R. Hargrove at https://www.facebook.com/lovely.noonyy/videos/10210044036963375/.
Madison Heights Police Officer Gibeau said that the explosion was “just part of the show.” The department received many phone calls about the pyrotechnic display.  Gibeau said that the display went off as planned and that there were no injuries.
The Friends of the Madison Heights Fire Department also shared a video stating the fireball was planned. Comments on the video reflected both concern and admiration for the display.
