2016 Candidate Interview: Randy LeVasseur for State Rep. 26th District (video)
(Crystal A. Proxmire, June 10, 2016)
Royal Oak, MI – Republican Randy LeVasseur is running for State Representative for the 26th District which is Madison Heights and Royal Oak. He is running against Democrat Jim Ellison who is the current Mayor of Royal Oak.
LeVasseur is an attorney who built a business of getting property tax reductions for homes and businesses. When asked why he is running, LeVasseur said “It seems like every time we turn around the politicians are either raising some tax or fee on the citizens of Michigan. I believe we’re already paying enough taxes and enough fees, and I believe the people who are paying the bills, the taxpayers, they need representation in our government. That’s why I’m running. I want to be that voice for the people who are paying the bills.
He talked about being unhappy with sidewalk assessments and millage increases, and accused his opponent of financial mismanagement. He also talked about being an active parent at Shrine High School and with the Royal Oak Memorial Society.
