gardenGOLDtop2016 Candidate Interview: MBREW draft oneBill Bullard for Oakland County Clerk and Register of Deeds (video)
(Crystal A. Proxmire, May 26, 2016)
Highland Twp, MI – Longtime Republican politician Bill Bullard is running for Oakland County Clerk and Register of Deeds, a position that he had been appointed to for 2010-2012 before losing the position to Democrat Lisa Brown.
Bullard is running against fellow Republican Tina Barton in the Aug. 2, 2016 primary. The winner of that race will face the winner of the Democratic Primary, either Lisa Brown or Michael D. Smith in November.
When asked why he is running, Bullard said “We have a record of success for the two short garden16_cherie_rolfeyears we were there.  We’ve moved the office forward in election reporting and election filing, a lot of new initiatives. We won six national awards for the programs that we put in.  We put an electronic modem in every voting machine in the county so that on election night when the last vote is case at 8:00 or afterwards if there is a line, the election workers turn the key, lock the ballots in the machine, flip another switch and the results from that machine go directly to Oakland County Headquarters and out on the internet. So that’s why we have the fastest Election Night voting results in the whole country.”
In his interview with oc115, Bullard talked about his experience in statewide and countywide level offices, including his record in Lansing of finance legislation, including Prop A which changed the system of how schools are funded, about making seat belt noncompliance a primary offense, and his thoughts about why he lost his bid for reelection in 2012.
