Suspected Bike Thief Arrested Thanks to Informed Citizens
(Ferndale Police, May 11, 2016)
Ferndale, MI – The suspected bicycle thief shown yesterday on multiple media outlets including oc115 has been identified and arrested according to Ferndale Police Lt. William Wilson.
Wilson wrote in a press release :
“The media broadcast of this thief proved effective and a man has been arrested for the theft. Shortly after midnight (12:30 a.m. this morning), Ferndale officers responded to Como’s Restaurant. An employee at the restaurant had seen the news story posted on Facebook’s Ferndale Forum and from that recognized the suspect when he went into the restaurant. The suspect reportedly show up regularly near closing time seeking free food.
The suspect arrived at Como’s on a bicycle. He matched the person in the security pictures taken during prior thefts, and was dressed the same as in the security pictures.  Ferndale police believe the man may be responsible for several thefts in the Ferndale, Hazel Park and Royal Oak area [we] and are currently investigating to determine more. Anybody who has recently had a bicycle stolen in the area, but has not reported it should contact their local police department.
The suspect’s identity will be released after a warrant is issued. (Possibly this afternoon)
