ScottWrightadTOPTrooper & Others Injured in UrbaneAd_01Crash During Traffic Stop on I-75 at 9 Mile

Hazel Park,  MI -At approximately 1:30am, a trooper from the Metro North Post was on a traffic stop on northbound I-75 near 9 mile.  The trooper had arrested a motorist on a warrant and had finished placing the arrested motorist in the front passenger seat of his patrol car when another motorist merging onto the highway drove onto the shoulder at a high rate of speed and struck (rear ended) the trooper’s patrol car. The trooper who was outside of the patrol car was subsequently struck by his own patrol car as a result of the crash. The offender vehicle then rolled over the patrol car hitting a female passenger who was also standing outside the vehicle that was stopped by the trooper.
The trooper, the arrestee, and his female passenger were all transported to local hospitals for treatment. The trooper is currently listed in good condition with minor injuries. The arrestee is also listed in good condition with minor injuries. The female passenger is currently listed in serious condition.
TheChazzano03 male driver that caused the crash received no injuries. His female passenger is currently being treated for minor injuries.
Northbound I-75 at 9 mile was closed for approximately 4 hours in order for the crash scene to be thoroughly investigated. At this point of the investigation, it is undetermined on whether alcohol is a factor as it relates to the crash.
I-75 at 9 mile is currently open in both directions.
