Drowning Reported in Holly Township

INCIDENT: Sunday May 8th @ 12:27 hrs. – Holly Township – Drowning / OCSO Dive Team Activation – #16-76445
SUMMARY: The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Operations Center received a 9-1-1 call that reported that a man had fallen into a pond of water located on the 1400 block of Joann. The North Oakland County Fire Authority and Troopers from the Michigan State Police and the DNR responded to the scene. The NOCFA Chief advised that he had confirmation of one subject still in the water and requested the OCSO Dive Team to assist in locating the victim.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The OCSO Dive Team was activated and responded to the scene. At approximately 13:30 hours, the victim was located by Sheriff’s divers and brought to shore. The victim was transported to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Twp. and later pounced deceased.
VICTIM: 28 year old male from Grand Blanc, MI
Additional Information:
– Victim was standing in the water fishing when his friend stated he appeared to have a seizure. Per that witness at scene, the victim then fell below the water surface.
– Victim was located by OCSO Divers in 10 feet of water and 30 feet from the last known point.
– Upon arrival of the OCSO Dive Team, MSP, Holly PD and North Oakland Fire were on scene.
– Per Sheriff’s Lt. Snyder, MSP will be handling the investigation. OCSO report number is #16-76445.
