Berkley, MI – The Berkley City Council selected Colleen Graveline to fill the vacant Council seat at the April 18, 2016 meeting. Graveline, a resident of Berkley for 7 years, was selected from a pool of three applicants for the position.
In her application letter, she said “My only goal is to give my complete, unbiased attention to the needs of the city and strive to find progressive solutions that benefit the majority of residents while respecting Berkley’s unique culture.” She was previously involved in a number of initiatives to move the city forward and participated in recent focus group activities to select the new city manager.
SaharaNEW02The remaining two applicants, Conor Shaw-Draves and Tracey Rettig, introduced themselves during the selection process. They both spoke about Berkley with pride and enthusiasm as they expressed their desire to serve.
Mayor Phil O’Dwyer said “We are grateful to all the applicants seeking this position. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have a spot for all them, but we hope they will be engaged in other volunteer opportunities available in Berkley.”
The Council announced the vacancy following Tina Edgar’s resignation on April 4th. Graveline will be sworn into office at the May 2nd meeting and will serve the remainder of Edgar’s unexpired term that ends in November, 2017.
