Ferndale, MI – On 01/18/16 at about 12:45 a.m. Ferndale Police responded to a burglary alarm at 750 W. 9 Mile Rd. The business is “Puff Factory”. When officers arrived, they found the rear alley door opened. Nobody was in the building when officers arrived.
The culprit had already left after destroying a cash register and stealing cash from it. After police reviewed the security video from Puff Factory, officers recognized the suspect as JAMES ANTHONY CHATMAN (b/m, 10/08/70, Detroit resident) who was being investigated for similar crimes around the Detroit Metro area. Ferndale Police worked in conjunction with MBREW draft oneother agencies [including Southfield Police and Western Wayne Community Response Team (CRT)] who tracked CHATMAN to the Renaissance Motel near 7 Mile / Woodward and arrested him a warrant for burglarizing the Puff Factory. He was arrested early morning (3:45 A.M.) on Saturday March 18th. Bond was set at $50,000.
