37 Year Old Woman Stabbed to Death in Troy, Neighbor Charged
(C. Proxmire, March 24, 20156)
A 37-year-old woman was stabbed to death in her apartment on Golfview Street on Monday, and her 53-year-old neighbor has been arrested and charged. According to Troy Police Sgt. Meghan Lehman the woman’s two elementary school aged children could not get in the apartment when they came home from school, and a neighbor looked in the window, finding the victim.
This is the first murder in Troy this year according to Lehman. Police say the woman may have caught the man in the act of larceny. Police arrested Charles Anthony Stephens of Troy, who they believe was involved in a series of larcenies. Stephens was arraigned Wednesday at 4:15pm in front of Magistrate Clement Waldman at 52-4 District Court. He was denied bond.
Stephens is scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause Conference on March 31 at 8:30 AM in front of Judge Maureen McGinnis of 52-4 District Court. Stephens’ Preliminary Exam is scheduled for April 7 at 10 AM in front of Judge McGinnis.
