High school marching bands from across southeast Michigan submitted videos of their bands performing the national anthem. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of judges from the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Bank to narrow down the submissions to a group of 10 finalists. Public voting on Comerica Bank’s Facebook page determined the contest winner.
More than 70,000 votes were cast during the nearly two-week public voting period. The Lincoln High School Marching Band finished in second place followed by Roosevelt High School’s Wyandotte Marching Chiefs in third place. This is the fourth year of the national anthem contest. Previous contests have supported local choir groups, as well as police officers, firefighters, military members and veterans from across southeast Michigan.
