Hazel Park Arts Council
Seeks Bike Rack Designs for Competition
(HPAC press release, March 7, 2016)
Hazel Park, MI – The HPAC is seeking members of the arts and design community to submit a design solution for a bicycle rack to visibly identify Hazel Park as a walk-able, bike-able community, involved and interested in the arts.
Context and inspiration.
The City of Hazel Park is experiencing new growth and business investment with a focus on retail and entertainment. Parks and bike lanes are being improved and developed. Sculpture, Art and the art scene are also being encouraged both civically and privately. Commercial bike racks are usually functional in their approach to securing a bike with aesthetics’ being of little importance. It is well understood that investing in art improves a community. The HPAC wants to combine these ideas of function and beauty.
