Hazel Park Firefighters go 71
Flights in Full Gear for Charity
(Crystal Proxmire, March 1, 2016)
Detroit, MI – Four Hazel Park firefighters held their own among firefighters through the region in a full-gear walk up 71 flights of stairs of the Detroit Renaissance Center.
Michael Khoury, Scott Covarrubias, Sean Altman, and Brandon Stinnett all made it to the top in the firefighter portion of the event. Other teams also raced to the top through the day.
The sweaty exercise, called Fight for Air Climb Detroit was a fundraiser for the American Lung Association. The Hazel Park team raised over $1,200.
“Lung cancer and lung disease is not only prevalent in all of society but even more so in the fire service. Today we climbed for those that can’t,” the men said in a statement on Facebook. “The climb was brutal but the view was rewarding. Thanks to all that helped with our fundraising efforts.
