Man Dead After Being Struck By Train in Royal Oak

Royal Oak, MI – A 26 year old Florida man is dead after being struck by an AMTRAK train early Saturday morning in Downtown Royal Oak.
Police say the man attempted to cross the tracks at S. Main and Sixth Street at about 1am, in spite of lights and signals functioning. Witnesses told police the train was sounding its horn and that the warning barriers were operating properly.
The man was taken to William Beaumont Hospital by the Royal Oak Fire Dept. and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police and AMTRAK officials are still investigating.
