Reports of Ferndale Hazmat Situation Untrue Captain Says

Ferndale, MI – Rumors of a hazmat situation spread online Friday as the Ferndale Fire Department was at Garden Fresh Salsa in the 1500 block of Bonner to investigate a report of an unusual odor.
“There was no hazmat situation,” said Ferndale Fire Captain May.  “An employee thought they smelled an odor.  People on the scene thought maybe there was an ammonia smell in the air but it quickly dissipated.  We checked the building and the surrounding area and nothing was found.  Our guys responded, did the search and gave the all clear before 9am. And now business is back to normal.”
When asked if the smell could have been from another business, Captain May responded that the area around Garden Fresh had been checked as well and nothing out of the ordinary was found.
