(Berkley Library Press Release, Feb. 5, 2016)
Berkley, MI – The Friends of the Berkley Public Library partnered with an anonymous donor to purchase $1,000 worth of early reader books for the library’s collection. With the generous donation, over 100 new items were purchased and added to the early reader section of the library.
“We’re really thrilled to see our early reader collection grow. Getting young kids engaged with books and reading at the library is essential. We are so grateful for the Friends and the anonymous donor for making this happen,” said Matt Church, Library Director.
The SaharaAd_04Friends of the Library provide support for library programs and collections through many fundraising efforts, including spring and fall book sales, the annual membership drive, and special events. Funds raised by the Friends help to pay for programs for people of all ages. To become a member of the Friends, visit www.berkley.lib.mi.us/documents/FriendsForm.pdf.
The donation follows a strong close to 2015 with several donations to the library. The library’s annual Giving Tree campaign raised $1,650, a Berkley resident donated $1,000, and another Berkley resident donated $500. All of the donated funds will be used to purchase new items for the library collection.
