Man Reports Accidentally Shooting Himself in Leg

Pontiac, MI – INCIDENT: 20:54 hrs. –Jan. 29 – City of Pontiac – Possible Accidental Shooting – Discharge of Firearm – #16-16450
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to McLaren Hospital – Oakland for a report of a shooting victim in the Emergency Room. Deputies spoke with the victim who stated that he was at a friend’s house on Third Ave, near Whittemore Street and Jessie Street, playing with a small caliber pistol that he had found on a table. The victim was not cooperative and stated he could not recall the address. The victim stated that the pistol accidentally discharged and the round struck him in the upper leg.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: McLaren Hospital staff stated that the wound appeared to be consistent with the victim’s account. Detectives were notified and will continue the investigation. The victim was listed in stable condition.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 20 year old male; resident of the City of Pontiac.
