Learning at BEF Bash Fundraiser Feb. 6
(EVENT page)
Birmingham, MI — The Birmingham Education Foundation’s (BEF’s) signature event, “The Unabashed Bash,” will take place this year on February 6, 2016 at The Somerset Collection – South. The “Bash,” as it is fondly known, is the Foundation’s most significant fundraising event of the year and is well attended by educators, parents and community leaders. The Birmingham Education Foundation’s (BEF) mission is to raise private funds from our community to insure academic excellence and innovation in the Birmingham Public School District.
The event is all new this year, and will feature a strolling dinner to complement the theme for the evening “Passport to Learning”, and will focus on how the BEF and its supporters help the Birmingham Public Schools offer programming to students which help them to be global citizens, able to take on the world. Each year, the BEF funds grants to teachers, staff and schools which allow students to experience the innovative and exceptional learning that BPS is known for offering.
In its fifteenth year, the evening will feature live and silent auctions, musical selections from student performers, and a focus on student accomplishments, in addition to an open bar, a fantastic menu and dancing.
The Bash auction truly features items for everyone, including: a sunset dinner cruise for six on a 42’ sailboat, Private Dinner for 10 at The Stand Gastro Bistro, airline tickets, the ever-popular orthodontics packages from Drs. Hummon and Gebeck and Drs. Tyler, Dumas and Reyes, plus many restaurant and entertainment packages.
Unable to attend the Bash? There is also an online auction that is open to everyone. The auction can be found at www.biddingforgood.com/supportBEF. The online auction will begin on Sunday, January 24 and run through Wednesday, February 10th, 2015. Bidders are encouraged to visit the site often, as new items will be added frequently.
The BEF continues its mission of inspiring minds and expanding possibilities by awarding over 1.4 million in grants to all Birmingham Public Schools since 2001, enriching the educational experience for all Birmingham Public School students.
“Birmingham Public School teachers and staff are continually thinking of exciting and innovative ways to reach our students, and the BEF is proud to support their efforts by providing grants to teachers and administrators to support their efforts. BEF grants are helping teachers to offer students a deeper, more comprehensive look at subjects. We are dedicated to supporting all students, district-wide through our support of the arts, academics, athletics and STEM programming within the district.” says Alison Hendry, the BEF’s executive director.
Tickets for the Bash are $175 per person. To purchase tickets or to learn more about how you can get involved in “The Unabashed Bash,” please contact Alison Hendry at 248-203-3030 or bef@birmingham.k12.mi.us
