Oak Park Hosts Successful
Winter Fest
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Jan. 26, 2016)
Oak Park, MI – The City of Oak Park stepped up it’s game for the annual Winter Fest celebration, literally. Along with the traditional Winter Fest fun, members of step teams from Oak Park Schools performed for audiences inside the Recreation Center. Families enjoyed hot chili as they watched the young men and women show off their moves.
Outside kids gathered around the fire pit making s’mores while nearby an ice carver made a pretty mean looking Darth Vader. Those seeking warm and fuzzy memories found them at the traveling petting zoo where a donkey, a llama, a turkey, some goats, a pair of bunny rabbits and other creatures gave kids an up-close look at nature.
The warm sunny day did not bode well for sledding, but inside the ice rink was cold and ready. The event brought the community together and showcased some of the recreation offerings Oak Park has. To learn more about the City of Oak Park go to www.ci.oak-park.mi.us.
