Doctor Mona Hanna-Attisha, Who Exposed Lead Poisoning in Flint, to Speak in RO Feb. 6

Royal Oak, MI – Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the Flint pediatrician who was a central figure in exposing and publicizing the lead contamination of Flint’s tap water, will be the guest speaker at the Greater Royal Oak Democratic Club February meeting:

This will be a homecoming for Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, who is a 1994 graduate of Royal Oak’s Kimball High School.  Among her classmates was now-Oakland County Commissioner David Woodward, who arranged this visit.
Over the past several months “Dr. Mona” has been featured in numerous local and national news stories on Flint’s water contamination, which has been declared a state and federal disaster.  Dr. Mona was called a “true hero” by talk show host Rachel Maddow for her courage in challenging state officials who for months insisted that Flint tap water was safe for drinking and bathing, when in fact the water was contaminated with unsafe levels of lead and other metals.
