FBI Task Force Agent Shot in Southfield, Suspect Dead
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Jan. 15, 2016)
Southfield, MI –  Yellow tape blocked off the parking lot of the Marriott hotel on Northwestern Highway Friday night as police say an undercover FBI task force agent and a suspect had been shot.  According to investigators on the scene, the agent was working on a sting operation when a suspect shot him at around 8:00pm.  The agent’s bulletproof vest saved his life.  Sources on the scene say that after the suspect shot the agent, he turned the gun on himself, though the investigation into the shootings continue.
At 9:50pm the suspect’s body remained on the ground, covered by a blanket.  Investigators were not allowing vehicles to be moved from the lot, leaving several hotel guests feeling stuck.
A hotel employee on a smoke break (who did not want to be identified because of his job) was sitting in his car to stay out of the rain.  “I heard a noise and I thought it was a thunderstorm,” he said.  “Then all of a sudden police pull in from all sides.  I see his guy run past and the police go after him.  He ran around the building and back again. I didn’t see it but I heard another gunshot and he fell right there in the parking lot.  I was maybe 50 feet away.  It was crazy.”
