Suspect in Ferndale Shooting 
Caught in Texas, Suspected of Other Area Crimes

Bloomfield, Twp – A man accused of shooting a man in the face in Ferndale on Dec. 3, 2015 is also the suspect in other Metro Detroit crimes, according to a report in The Daily Tribune. The report states that 21-year-old Somate Jalen Russell of Detroit was arraigned on Jan. 5 for the shooting, and that he is the suspect in a Bloomfield Township incident as well. Bloomfield Township Police say Russell bought an iPhone on Nov. 13 and gave the seller $700 in counterfeit money. The Ferndale incident also involved the sale of iPhones over Craigslist. Somate was arrested in Houston, TX. He may also be the suspect in similar cases in Clawson, Ferndale and Southfield.
