On 01/08/16 shortly after noon, Ferndale Police received a call from a citizen reporting a suspicious object in the parking lot near E. Breckenridge and Woodward. Officers responded and saw a tubular cardboard object with hardware attached  lying on the ground. It appeared the object might have been a homemade explosive device similar to a pipe bomb, so Ferndale PD called the Michigan State Bomb Squad for assistance. The bomb squad arrived and determined the device was not an incendiary device . It presented no danger to the public.
royal_servicesPolice are investigating to determine if the item may have been left as a hoax or as an attempt to result in a law enforcement response.
