Rochester Hills, MI – Freedom Road Transportation
Bowling Fundraiser Feb. 21
Classic Lanes (2145 Avon Industrial Dr., Rochester Hills)
The challenge of transportation is a daily issue for many people. Many don’t have the convenience of having a vehicle that they can use whenever they need to. Public transportation is not readily available in parts of the state and often friends may want to help but can’t afford the extra gas costs involved.
Freedom Road Transportation, a non-profit just may be the answer for those lacking a sidebar012stairsmeans of transportation. This organization is a volunteer driver program designed to fill a transportation gap. Individuals using the program can gain freedom from social isolation, get a job, access medical services, go shopping or anything else that might be a distance away.
This program can be as rewarding for the volunteer drivers as it is for those gaining assistance with transportation. Often people would like to help and want to feel like they are contributing to society but their own limited funds prevent them from doing so. Freedom Road Transportation’s program will reimburse them for their mileage on a monthly basis.
Those needing assistance with transportation must find their own volunteer driver. The service is free to the user. They have access to rides 24 hrs. a day, 7 days a week as agreed upon between the volunteer and the user. The user is traveling with family or friend and may get assistance if needed.
Freedom Road Transportation is currently funded by grants from public agencies and chazzano game adfoundations, service contracts, and contributions from individuals and businesses.
