Make Up for Stolen Christmas Presents

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Kimberly for a report of breaking and entering of an apartment. The complainant left her home at 9:00am and returned home at 3:30pm. The 25 year old home owner returned at 11:45 pm discovering her door ajar. A further check revealed someone had entered the apartment and stolen various items. Deputies’ investigation found unknown suspect(s) had gained entry into the apartment and took laptop, remote control dinosaur, wedding ring, and 3 wrapped Christmas presents. Deputies processed the crime scene for evidence, checked the area and found no other incidents of theft. This incident is under investigation.
Update on the crime: Deputies learned an unknown Christmas Grinch had stolen Christmas presents intended for the home owner’s three children who have been experiencing financial hardships. The victim was asked to come into the Sheriff’s Orion Township Sub-Station where she was presented with a $150 gift card from Meijer’s in order to replace the stolen Christmas presents for the children. The case remains open and Deputies are asking anyone with information on the stolen property or the Grinch, to contact the Sheriff’s Tip line at 1-888-TURN-1-IN. A cash reward is available for information leading to an arrest.
