Royal Oak Seeking Public Art
Submissions, Deadline Feb. 15
(City of Royal Oak, Dec. 20, 2015)
Royal Oak , MI – The Royal Oak Commission for the Arts (ROCFA) is excited to announce its fourth annual call for artists to submit applications for temporary display of public art in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan. Artwork will be displayed from June 2016 to April 2017.
Proposals will be reviewed and juried by a committee of ROCFA members and prominent community art representatives that have not yet been selected.
Selected artists will receive a $600 honorarium. Artwork will be accompanied by plaques identifying the artwork and artist.
A 25 percent commission will be paid to ROCFA by artists if their work is sold during the exhibit. Funds will be used to sustain the Art Explored public art program in the future. Preference may be given to work that has already been completed. However, conceptual proposals will be entertained if the artwork can be created within the presented timeline, and applications are submitted with clear and detailed specifications and renderings.
A signed contract and license agreement approved by the city commission will be required before artwork can be displayed. General liability insurance is not required from the artist. However, ROCFA does recommend that all artists obtain property insurance to cover their work.
