Skeleton Found in Woods, Suicide Likely Cause of Death

INCIDENT: 15:16 hrs. – Orion Township – Death Investigation/Possible Suicide. #15-202256
SUMMARY:  Deputies responded to a business located in the 200 block of W. Clarkston Rd for a deceased subject.  The business owner was driving his golf cart in the wooded area located behind his business when he noticed a pile of rubbish.  When he looked closer he observed skeletal remains and shoes.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  Deputies secured the area.  A detective responded to assist with the investigation.  The OCSO Forensic Lab and the Medical Examiner responded to process the scene.  It was determined that the skeletal remains were human with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.  A handgun was located lying next to the remains.  The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office took possession of the remains.  This is believed to be the remains of a person missing from Orion Twp. since May of this year who left a suicide note at that time. The incident remains under investigation
