Ferndale: 13th Anniversary of
Peace Rally to Include Diversity Messages Dec. 21
(EVENT page, DAPNJ)
Ferndale, MI – At last week’s Detroit Area Peace with Justice Network (DAPJN) meeting it was decided to hold a rally in support of refugees, our Muslim neighbors, and democracy itself. The best time for this was Monday of next week so we decided to hold it simultaneous to the 9 Mile and Woodward peace vigil (4:15 – 5:15). This is the 13th anniversary of the peace vigil, another good reason to come out next Monday. Please invite your family and friends. Signs will be provided but in case you would like to make your own, a few suggested slogans could include:
Bigotry is Not an American Value
Deflate the Hate
I’ll Swap 1 Donald Trump for 5, 000 Refugees
Standing with our Muslim Neighbors
My Family Came to the US as Immigrants
Our Diversity is Our Strength
There is No Us and Them: We Are One
I Believe in a Country That Welcomes Immigrants
One Nation, Many Faiths
“I Was a Stranger and You Welcomed Me”
“Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor”
Peace.
