(City of Novi Press Release, Dec. 8, 2015)

NOVI, MI– The City of Novi is a proud recipient of two 2015 Keep Michigan Beautiful Inc. awards. A Michigan Award was received in recognition of Pavilion Shore Park, located at 43390 Thirteen Mile Road on the south shore of Walled Lake, and an Award of Merit was received for the community build of a gazebo at the Meadowbrook Commons Residential Living Sahara ad with wineFacility, located at 25075 Meadowbrook Road.

The development of Pavilion Shore Park was largely funding by a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund development grant. The 11-acre park opened in August 2013. In addition to preserving the natural features of the site, the park provides access to Walled Lake with a fishing pier and boardwalk, promotes active lifestyles with plentiful pathways, and offers green open space for a variety of activities. Improvements continue to be made to the park including the recent installation of park benches, picnic tables and Fate of Empires, a sculpture by international artist and former Novi resident David Barr. A public restroom/pavilion is scheduled to be completed in 2016. Pavilion Shore Park is a destination to enjoy Novi’s sparkling waters and inviting landscapes.

The gazebo at Meadowbrook Commons was made possible through the financial support of garden16_pamela_williamsthe Novi community. More than $14,000 was raised though individual contributions, Novi Rotary, Biondo Design and Build, and the Novi Parks Foundation. Volunteers from Novi Rotary, along with Kevin Biondo as project manager, assembled the gazebo which was dedicated in May 2015. The gazebo is surrounded by a lush butterfly garden, creating a popular gathering space for the more than 200 residents of Meadowbrook Commons. Future programming plans include small concerts and meetings of the walking club. Donations continue to be accepted to further enhance the site with benches and landscape.

The City of Novi takes pride in maintaining and encouraging beautiful outdoor spaces for residents and visitors to gather and enjoy. To learn about parks and amenities, visit cityofnovi.org.
