(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 8, 2015)
Rochester Hills, MI – Rochester Hills resident Adam Kochenderfer is moving on up. Kochenderfer was appointed to The Oakland County Board of Commissioners last week, filling a vacancy left when Commissioner Jeff Matis was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to fill a judicial vacancy in Oakland County Circuit Court.
Kochenderfer will now represent the 15th District, which covers Rochester and a large part of Rochester Hills. He is expected to finish out Mathis’ term, ending in Dec. 2016. Kochenderfer is an attorney with Wolfson Bolton, PLLC and has several awards to his credit, including being steele lindbloom adone of L. Brook’s Patterson’s 40 Under 40, the Pro Bono Spirit Award from Legal Aid and Defender Association and Young Alumni of the Year from Oakland University. He will be joining other Republicans who make up the majority of the Commission.
The appointment leaves a vacancy on the Rochester Hills City Council.
The City of Rochester Hills posted the following on their website:
“The Rochester Hills City Council is seeking interested qualified voters to fill a District 2 vacancy on City Council for a term to expire on November 19, 2017.
“Interested candidates shall be a registered elector in the city of Rochester Hills for one year, shall maintain residency in District 2 during the term of office, and shall not be in default of payment of any tax, assessment or obligation owed to the city. The candidate selected CandleWickShoppe_Oakland115_144x260to fill the vacancy shall serve until the next regular city election to be held in November 2017.
Interested candidates should submit the required application materials to the City Clerk’s Office by Friday, December 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.”
The Rochester Hills City Council consists of seven Council Members: four district members and three at-large members. They are elected to four-year terms and, due to term limiting, can serve no more than two terms for a maximum of eight years.
The Council meets on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium, per their approved meeting schedule.  Council meetings can be seen live on Rochester Hills Television or via on-line streaming and recent meetings can be seen by visiting RHTV’s video library.
When asked what his advice would be for those seeking the council seat, Kochenderfer said “The best advice I can give anyone on council: Vote like you don’t need the job, because you don’t. City councils are citizen bodies who have a chance to hear from their bosses every meeting during public comment. It’s the purest form of democracy there is. Make the most of it.
