Volunteer Stabbed at Common Ground, Keego Harbor Man in Custody

Pontiac, MI –  INCIDENT: 10:55 hrs. Dec. 4, 2015– 1200 North Telegraph Rd.-Oakland County Government Complex – Common Ground building – Attempted Murder #15-197547
SUMMARY:  Deputies responded to Common Ground, Building 32 East for a stabbing. The victim (a custodial employee) was stabbed in the lower back by a patient at Common Ground.  Deputies took custody of the suspect without incident. 
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  The victim was transported to McLaren Hospital – Oakland and was taken into surgery. The knife wound punctured her liver.  The suspect was treated at McLaren Hospital – Oakland for cuts to his hands.  The suspect was then lodged at the Oakland County Jail on Attempted Murder charges.  Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) responded to assist with the investigation. Specialists from the Forensic Lab responded to process the scene.  It is unknown at this time how the suspect obtained the 3 inch folding knife that was used.  It was recovered by Deputies at the scene.
VICTIM INFORMATION:  30 year old female
ARRESTEE INFORMATION:  26 year old male, resident of the City of Keego Harbor who was committed the day before for a mental health evaluation.
The following events occurred at the Common Ground Facility, Oakland County Campus.  O.C. #15-197547
On 12/03/15, At approximately 6:30PM, David Fried, dob of 03/13/89 was lodged under a court order at the Common Ground facility.
On morning of 12/04/15 David Fried attacked the victim who was cleaning a floor in the facility, by stabbing the her with a 3 inch folding pocket knife in the abdomen puncturing her liver.
The victim was transported to McLaren Hospital for serious injuries. The suspect was also transported to McLaren hospital for cuts to his hand.
On 12/05/15, Oakland County Sheriff’s Special Investigation Unit obtained two warrants: (1) one count of attempt murder and (1) one count of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent. After arraignment in the 50th District Court in Pontiac, bond was set at $75,000 no 10%.
The victim is currently at the McLaren Hospital in stable condition after many hours of surgery.
Suspect David Benjamin Fried is lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending court action.
