Farmington Hills, MI – The City of Farmington Hills is pleased to announce the selection of Dave Boyer as the new City Manager. He replaces former City Manager Steve Brock who retired after being with the City for more than 25 years. Dave Boyer served as Acting City Manager following his predecessor’s retirement and officially started in the position of City Manager on October 19. He was selected following a nationwide recruitment and hiring process managed by the City’s Human Resources Department.
Schrock2015_SmilingFace_adDave Boyer previously served as the Assistant City Manager, a position he was appointed to in 2012. Prior to that, he worked as the Director of Special Services, a position he held since he joined the City in 1998. Prior to his time with the City of Farmington Hills, Boyer was the Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Southfield, where he worked for 14 years.
“In all of my positions, I have had a strong community-based focus,” said Dave Boyer. “In my job as City Manager, I look forward to continuing to work with residents as I serve the City in a new capacity.”
Mr. Boyer received a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University. He is a Past President and current Board member of the Optimist Club, a Board member of the Resource, Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County, and is a member of the Farmington/Farmington Hills Multicultural Multiracial Community Council, the Xemplar Club of Farmington and Farmington Hills, and the Farmington Area Interfaith Association. He also serves as a member of the Michigan Municipal League, the South Oakland County Mayors Association, the National League of Cities, and the International City/County Management Association.
