The Holly Dickens Festival is celebration of the famed classic writer Charles Dickens that takes place Nov. 27 – Dec. 13. The production of the grand event is truly a community effort.
With dozens of events and performances, the entire town is immersed in the magic of history and literature. And the Eagle Scouts have captured the inspiration as well.
George Kullis, Director of the festival, shared one of the ways that everyone does their part.
seed0384334_Desiree_Cooper _ Nov 2015“The Holly Dickens festival is proud to announce the completion of an Eagle Scout project,” Kullis said. “Edward Sanner the 3rd. came to us a little over a month ago wondering if we might have something that would qualify as an Eagle Scout project. We told him the festival could use more benches as we are growing and now have two stages. This is the end result of his labor. A job well done!”
The shop is full of benches, painted brightly in red and green just waiting to help people enjoy performances of “A Christmas Carol” on the patio of Red Devil Restaurant.
To help raise money for the festival, organizers are offering an opportunity to place a memorial on a bench for $35.
