The Hazel Park Police Department is investigating the beating death of five cats. According to City Manager Ed Klobucher, four presumably feral cats and one house pet “appear to have been beaten to death September 25th and October 4th in the 300-400 block of E. George.”
The case has hit a roadblock, and has been closed unless more information becomes available.  “Investigatory interviews were conducted and evidence was collected and chazzano game adreviewed.  The investigation has not been stopped, there is simply no new information at this time and insufficient information to make an arrest.”
Neighbors have been active on social media with worries and speculations.  When asked if residents should be concerned about their cats, Klobucher said “Any time cats are allowed to roam free, they are at risk from a variety of dangers.  There have been no new incidents of this type since October 4th.  The Hazel Park Police are on the lookout for anything suspicious involving cruelty to animals.  Anyone caught harming an animal will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  The city of Hazel Park takes these matters very seriously.”
