ScottWrightadTOPCandidate Interview: Bob ctechadGettings, Madison Heights Council (video)
(C. Proxmire, October 25, 2015)
Bob Gettings likes his job as a Madison Heights City Councilperson, and says he looks forward to getting back into the groove. Gettings and fellow council members Margene Scott and Robert Corbett are running unopposed on the Nov. 3, 2015 ballot.
Gettings had served four years on council, but then lost by ten votes in the most recent election. Councilperson Brian Hartwell had to resign from Council in order to run for Mayor in the current election, and based on Madison Heights City Charter, the next highest vote-getter is given the seat if one becomes open. Thus Gettings is currently back on City modern natural baby inprogressCouncil, and the on the ballot for Nov. 3.
Though there is no competition for the Council seats, former Mayor Pro Tem Brian Hartwell is challenging current Mayor Ed Swanson for that seat.
Gettings has lived in Madison Heights for most of his life, working at various positions in the Recreation Department. In the next four years he hopes to continue a focus on recreation programs as well being financially responsible and making sure police and fire are properly funded.
In his interview with oc115, Gettings talked about the volunteers that make Madison Heights great, about the economic development team that has helped with business growth, about a potential Habitat for Humanity project and more. Check out his interview below:
