SOFI K TO LAUNCH DEBUT ALBUM LOVEHATE ON NOVEMBER 6
14-year-old local talent to celebrate album release with concert at
Royal Oak Music Theatre also featuring Soul Divide and Stereo Jane
Sofi K, a 14-year-old freshman at Bloomfield Hills High School, will release her debut album named LoveHate on Friday, November 6. To celebrate the album’s release, Sofi K will perform in a special concert that same day at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets for the show at $10 are on sale now at www.royaloakmusictheatre.com.
The concert bill also includes performances by Soul Divide and Atlantic Recording artists Stereo Jane. Both acts have a close connection to Sofi K. Stereo Jane is fronted by fellow Bloomfield Hills High School mates, twin sisters Sydney and Emilia (Mia) Schmier and Soul Divide features Bryce Harding, who produced LoveHate and has known Sydney and Mia since they were 10 years old.
The lyrics for all 10 tracks of LoveHate were written by Sofi K and the music was co-written by Sofi K and producer Bryce Harding. The album was recorded over the course of the past year at The Tempermill Studio in Ferndale and at the Mix Factory One Studios in Southfield and is a totally local effort, from artist to producer to musicians. The concept of the pop album revolves around the idea of mixed emotions and is rather eclectic in terms of how each of the songs sound, with hints of rock, jazz and blues.
LoveHate will be available on all of the most popular download and streaming web sites including iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody and Tidal. It will also be on sale as a compact disc on Amazon and CD Baby.
The album’s second single “Stars” will be released on Wednesday, October 21 and will be available for download on iTunes , Google Play, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody and Tidal.
Sofi K first burst onto the public’s consciousness when her debut single from LoveHate, “One Way Ticket,” was released on iTunes earlier this year and was downloaded on four different continents within the first 24 hours.
About Sofi K
In the heart of Motown, Sofi K was born on August 6th, 2001 with a love of entertaining others evident since an early age. She has embraced performing with gusto and has already amassed an impressive resume over a wide range of entertainment aspects. Beginning violin lessons at age four, she soon became a crowd favorite at recitals not because she was the most technically skilled, but because of her flair and projection to the audience. In addition to violin, she has trained in theatre acting — with roles in half a dozen productions with Birmingham Village Players and Cranbrook Theatre — ballet, hip-hop dance and voice. At school, she has been a member of the National Junior Honors Society, Student Leadership Team, Forensics Team, Orchestra, Choir and was the lead in the student production of Bye Bye Birdie.
Most recently, Sofi K is spending some of her boundless energies volunteering with the Wish Upon a Teen organization, which is dedicated to providing resources, time and opportunities to teenagers with severe life-threatening medical conditions and learning disabilities.
Her huge singing voice and performance ability belies Sofi K’s diminutive stature. Her abundant natural talents have been nurtured by an esteemed pair of local entertainment professionals: music producer and Kresge fellowship recipient, Bryce Harding and Grammy nominated, voice coach/advisor Kate Hart. Along the way, she has performed in plays, festivals, clubs and at private engagements. She continues to tour, perform and write, in preparation for the next step in her young career.
