The Force Is With The Ferndale Library This Halloween
with a STAR WARS themed SPOOKTACULAR on Sat., Oct. 31
The Ferndale Library staff always go all out for Halloween and this season they’re going out of this world…to, you guessed it, a galaxy far far away… The library’s annual SPOOKTACULAR is Sat., Oct. 31, from 6 to 8pm, with a drop-in trick-or-treating trail throughout the library. There is no registration required and the event is open to all ages and members of all communities. Costumes, however, are highly encouraged; particularly if they’re Star Wars-themed.
Wookies, droids, Jedi and maybe even Yoda himself will be inhabiting the library on Halloween night, transforming into a more intergalactic setting, with a path set throughout the aisles of books to retrieve bounties of candy. Over in the Kids Corner, our costumed guests can visit the craft station where they can make their own lightsabers, their own origami Yodas or just pose in our photo booth (silly and scary faces are encouraged, young Padawans).
The library staff felt this was the perfect way for kids to rev up for the release of Episode VII: The Force Awakens.Trick-or-treaters can arrive anytime after 6pm, but bear in mind that the SPOOKTACULAR will be wrapped up by 8pm.
Leading up to the big night, the library is accepting donations of sealed candy at either the Circulation Desk or the Youth Services desk. Staff are also welcoming any community volunteers to help pass out candy. Star Wars themed costume are not required from volunteers but strongly encouraged!
May the Force (and the fun of Halloween) be with you!
