Candidate Interview: Robert
J. Corbett Jr, Madison Heights Council (video)
(C. Proxmire, October 7, 2015)
With a degree in economics from the University of Detroit Mercy, 40 years’ experience in Real Estate, and 16 years’ experience on City Council, Robert J. Corbett is confident Madison Heights voters will re-elect him on Nov. 3, 2015. Adding to that confidence is that he is unopposed.
There are three incumbents running for three council seats: Corbett, Bob Gettings and Margene Scott.
Though the council members are unopposed, there is a contest for the Mayor’s seat, with longtime Mayor Edward Swanson being challenged by Brian Hartwell, who had been serving on City Council until resigning to run.
Councilperson Corbett said he is running again to maintain stable leadership in the city. In his interview with oc115, he talked about economics, a domestic violence ordinance, signage, code enforcement, SOCRRA, the great flood of 2014 and more.
