(Guest View by Kelly Eldred and Kristy Schlak, Oct. 1, 2015)
In Hazel Park, there is a group of boys who meet once a week to participate in activities that build character, teach life skills, discuss environmental awareness, practice teamwork and instill outdoor skills.
These are Cub Scouts.
Racing a car they built themselves. Collecting cans for the food bank. Cooking your dinner around a camp fire. Cleaning up trash in a local park and planting garden. Building and DDAnew01launching rockets in the park. Visiting the local police department.
These are just some of the activities these 1st through 5th graders are doing. They do it because its fun, and they earn badges and recognition for their hard work, the parents do it because they know these are lessons and skills that are not taught in a classroom, and will be applied throughout their life.
These boys and parents are like minded and enjoy completing these activities together.
If you are interesting in joining you can contact Cubscoutpack1307@gmail.com or visit us at the Ford Administration building (West Entrance) Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00
