Royal Oak Woman Arrested 
After Bone-Crushing Jet Ski Accident in W. Bloomfield

INCIDENT: 16:20 hrs. – West Bloomfield Township – OCSO Marine Unit Assist / 
Watercraft Personal Injury Accident / Operating While Intoxicated – Watercraft #15-145851.
SUMMARY: The OCSO Marine Unit was dispatched along with the West Bloomfield Twp. Police and Fire Department to the West Acres Beach on a report of a Personal Injury Watercraft Accident on Middle Straits Lake. Original information received indicated that an older male subject had been injured during a personal watercraft (PWC) versus boat collision. The responsible driver was still out on the water. The West Bloomfield Police and Fire Department requested assistance from the OCSO Marine Unit. Upon arrival, it was reported that the responsible operator of the PWC had stood up on a Jet-ski, lost control and drove into the swim area of the beach. In doing so, the operator struck a 60 year old male who had been standing in the water, pushing him into and “sandwiching” him between the 
Jet-ski and a Pontoon boat. The Jet-ski continued to strike the side of the Pontoon boat until it was brought to a stop by other boaters. No other injuries were reported. Alcohol appears to have been a factor on the part of the operator.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The victim was transported by the West Bloomfield Fire Department to Huron Valley Hospital where he remains in stable condition. The victim’s injuries are not life threatening, but he is being treated for multiple broken bones. The responsible driver was taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated (Watercraft) causing injury and for Operating without a Boater’s Safety Certificate. She was subsequently transported to the Oakland County Jail where she was lodged on the listed charges.
SUSPECT / ARRESTEE INFORMATION: 24 year old female; resident of the City of 
Royal Oak.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 60 year old male; resident of West Bloomfield Township.
