(Rochester Rotary, Sept. 2, 2015)
Rochester Rotary, a member club of Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service and encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, invites college students ages 18-30 from Oakland University (OU) to join Rotaract, Rotary International’s service club for young adults. OU’s Rotoract Club will be participating in Grizzfest, an opportunity for OU students to obtain information about a variety of student clubs and organizations. Grizzfest is Thursday, Sept. 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the OU campus.
The Rotaract Club was organized at OU in fall 2013 and is sponsored by the Rochester Rotary SCOTT WRIGHT AD basic tallclub, which provides support and guidance. Oakland University Rotaract co-presidents are Savine Zora (savinezora@yahoo.com) and Brittany Savaya (brittanysavaya@yahoo.com).   Wayne Hodges, a Rochester Rotarian and a liaison for OU’s Rotaract club, explains the appeal of joining a service club like Rotaract.
“Today’s young adults are the leaders of tomorrow. Rotaract provides young leaders and those who aspire to leadership the opportunity to learn and understand the value of individual responsibility, hard work and personal integrity while enhancing and demonstrating leadership skills and promoting goodwill,” Hodges said. “We encourage any OU students interested in learning more about the club to stop by the Rotaract table at Grizz Fest. As a club, we really enjoy working with our community’s young adults to make a difference, form lifelong relationships and learn and grow together.”
With more than 200,000 Rotaractors in approximately 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract allows participants to meet young adults from around the world, develop leadership seed019_Cherie_Rolfeskills and contribute to the betterment of the global society. Rotaract clubs carry out community service projects each year, including one that specifically furthers international understanding and goodwill.
