Actress Melissa Gilbert
Announces Congressional Run

Actress Melissa Gilbert, best known for the TV series Little House on the Prairie, has announced that she is running for Congress in Michigan’s 8th District.
The District includes Rochester Hills, Clarkston, Lake Orion and Oxford in Oakland County as well as parts of Livingston, Ingham and Clinton Counties. Mike Bishop of Rochester currently holds the seat.
Gilbert moved to Michigan recently and campaigned for Democratic Gubernatorial hopeful Mark Schauer during the 2014 election. She lives in Livingston County.
According to her Facebook Page, “from 1973-1983 she starred as Laura Ingalls Wilder on Little House on the Prairie. She later went on to become president of the Screen Actors Guild, where she represented hundreds of thousands of performers across the country. Gilbert has authored three books, including the New York Times’ Best Seller ”Prairie Tale:A Memoir”.”
