Mutt Strutt to Have Dogs on
the Runway Up for Adoption Aug 6
(event listing)
Bingo Cares is partnering with the City of Royal Oak and Oakland County parks to bring a fun and unique opportunity to the general public. As part of the Thursday night Concert in the Park series, Bingo Cares will be presenting for one night only the First Annual Mutt Strut.
The Mutt Strut is a family friendly event, which will feature local, adoptable dogs from local rescues and shelters that will be strutting their stuff down the red carpet!
The event will take place on Thursday, August 6th, from 6pm to 9pm. The pop-up park is located on Center Street, just north of 4th Street in downtown Royal Oak. During the concerts, the dogs will be available for people who are interested to visit them Bingo Pet Salon. The first group of dogs will strut down the red carpet around 6:50, with the second group taking a strut around 7:50.
There will be 10-12 local animal rescues and shelters in attendance for the Mutt Strut. Though the dogs will not be available for on-site adoption, the shelters and rescues will be on site to accept applications and talk to people interested in the dogs to see if they are a great fit for the interested families.
Bingo Cares, is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit, founded by Bingo Pet Salon co-owners Brian Lane, Jaime Wolfe, and Jessica Conway. The organization provides free grooming services to local shelters and rescues for dogs and cats searching for their forever homes.
“Our goal is to be able to offer free grooming services to help give these pets a step up in the adoption process” says co-founder Brian Lane. As both a Co-Founder of Bingo Cares and NBS Animal Rescue, Jaime Wolfe says, “I can see the difference that grooming makes for the neglected and forgotten animals as they enter into rescue and subsequently the new phase of their lives. Most really work to put their past behind them. Dogs and cats that come in broken and confused leave the salon feeling and looking amazing, and often their attitude will match! It truly is an amazing thing and why I am so passionate about this cause.”
With the opening of the new Bingo Institute of Grooming in the beginning of the fall, which will offer a variety training programs for prospective dog and cat groomers, bathers, and vet techs; the school will be able to also offer low cost grooming services provided by student groomers, to those who otherwise could not afford regular grooming.
