Clawson: Police Say Couple Faked Fireworks Tent Robbery Report
(compiled, July 22, 2015)
While investigating a reported armed robbery, Clawson Police learned that it was an employee and his wife that stole money from the fireworks tent at the corner of 14 Mile and Crooks on July 2.
According to a report by Mike McConnell of The Daily Tribune, the couple told police they stole the money to pay bills, and the husband filed a false report of a robbery at the fireworks tent where they worked to cover up their crime.
According to the report, police became suspicious when the man described a small SUV, but no cars like that appeared on surveillance camera recordings from around that time.
