Five Year Old Bitten by German Shepherd in Highland Township

INCIDENT: 20:24 hrs. July 11, 2015 – Highland Township – Injured Child / Dog Bite #15-109434
SUMMARY: Deputies were dispatched, along with the Highland Township Fire Department to the area of Milford Rd and Wardlow Rd for an injured child. The child’s mother had called 9-1-1 to report that her son had been bitten by a dog on Strathcona Drive. She was attempting to transport the child to the hospital in her personal vehicle, but the bleeding was getting worse. The mother indicated that her son was bleeding.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The child was transported by Star EMS to McLaren Hospital – Oakland for treatment of his injuries. Deputies responded to the residence where the incident occurred and contained the responsible dog in the garage. Oakland County Animal Control was notified and responded to the address. The animal is described as a seven year old German Shepherd and the animal was quarantined by Animal Control officers whom will also handle the follow-up investigation.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 5 year old male; resident of Highland Township.
