waterworkTOP_whiteFarmington: Thieves targeting royal_servicesChrysler 300’s for Navigation Systems
(Farmington Police, July 9, 2015)
On July 7th at 6:00AM, Farmington Public Safety officers responded to an apartment complex on the 21900 block of Farmington Rd (area of 9 Mile & Farmington Rd) to investigate two reports of thefts of in-dash navigation systems from Chrysler 300 vehicles parked in the lot.
Both vehicles had the rear passenger windows smashed out. The in-dash navigation systems were pulled from the dashboards of those vehicles, leaving only wires exposed. Officers spoke to POWELLad_01a witness who stated that at around 5:00 AM, she was on her balcony when she heard the sound of glass breaking in the parking lot just below her balcony. She saw two individuals, who appeared to be male, race unknown, wearing dark clothing, walk away from the car and past her balcony. It appeared that they left on foot, heading toward the NW corner of the complex. Unfortunately, the witness did not contact the police to investigate.
This is the third incident involving the theft of an in-dash navigation system from a Chrysler 300 vehicle reported to FDPS in the last month. The Department encourages anyone who owns a Chrysler 300 or other vehicle with an in-dash navigation system to take extra precautions to secure those vehicles. Consider parking in a well-lighted area or in a secured garage if possible.
Lastly, please call the Farmington Public Safety Department immediately to report any ferncareADsuspicious persons, vehicles or situation in your neighborhood or apartment complex.
