Oakland University Passes State Cap, Raises Tuition 8.48%

Grizzlies will be paying more for college come fall, as the Board of Trustees for Oakand University has approved a 8.48% tuition increase.
According to a report by David Jesse in the Detroit Free Press, OU will give up $1.2 million in state aid because of exceeding the cap on increases, but will gain about $12 million in additional revenue.
The Free Press article outlines a list of things that OU CFO John Beaghan plans to do with the additional money, including planning for a $40 million Oakland Center renovation, adding 11 faculty members and planning a $30 million expansion of Elliott Hall.
