Police Impersonator Suspect Wanted After Incident at 96 and Milford Road

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information regarding a possible police impersonator incident which occurred this morning around 6am near Eastbound I-96 at Milford Road. Two off-duty officers observed suspicious circumstances relating to what appeared to be a police impersonator conducting a traffic stop. One of the officers attempted to follow the suspect vehicle, but the suspect accelerated to speeds over 90 M.P.H. and the officer stopped following for safety reasons.
The vehicle in question looked to have a black GMC Yukon or Chevrolet Tahoe with Ohio license plates stopped on the side of the road.
Suspect Information: White male with light brown hair – crew cut style
Last seen wearing bright blue pants and a black tactical vest
with the word “Sheriff” in silver letters on the back.
Vehicle Information: Early 2000’s silver or champagne Pontiac Bonneville
Red and Blue LED lights in the rear window
Windows on vehicle are mirror tinted
Michigan Plate: 0KLR02
All investigations have shown that this was a police impersonator incident. The plate that was obtained by witnesses has come back no record. Anyone that has information or has had contact with this individual is urged to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 888-TURN-1-IN
