Pleasant Ridge residents are invited to take part in the process of designing Gainsboro Park. Residents recently approved a parks millage to make improvements, and the City is working with mobileLAB to bring the community together to have a say in how it turns out.

“We’re very excited to collaborate with our residents to create the blueprint for an excellent community park. This mobileLAB event will be the first step towards creating a vision for Reid_Sally_115excellence that we will work to implement over the coming year,” said Pleasant Ridge City Manager James Breuckman.

There is a kick-off event on Thursday, July 16 with a 5-day mobileLAB event held entirely in Gainsboro Park. The kick-off ice cream social is for all interested parties, followed by special focus group sessions, a drop-in design workshop, prioritization pit stop and finally a community celebration.

The mobileLAB will include the following events, all of which will be held at or near the Gainsboro Shelter:

Thursday, July 16, 6:30pm-8:30pm – Ice Cream Social and Vision Open House Sahara ad with wine– livingLAB will be at the park during the Ice Cream Social event and will have a series of fun activities to draw out visions for the park.

Saturday, July 18, 9am-12:45pm – Focus Group Sessions – Come join in one or more of the group sessions that will focus on specific areas of interest:

  • 9:00am – Active Senior Facilities
  • 10:00am – Young Families
  • 11:00am – Gardens and Landscape
  • 12:00pm – Walking Paths and Connections

Saturday, July 18, 1-3pm – Drop-In Design Workshop – this will be where the consulting team begins to design using the input gained at the Thursday and Saturday morning events. Red Door Realty Ad _own_your_dreamResidents are welcome to drop in and work together with the design team sketching and dreaming possibilities for the park.

Monday, July 20, 4-6pm – Prioritization Pit Stop – Stop by on your way home from work or after dinner to spend a few minutes reviewing the drawings for the park as they begin to emerge. You will have the opportunity to provide input on which programming and look/feel options for the space you prefer.

Tuesday, July 21, 7-8:30pm – Community Celebration – Join us for the initial presentation of the draft plan that incorporates all of the input gained during the 5-day event. Refreshments will be served.
